Hundreds of people turned out for the genealogy conference hosted by the Cork Genealogical Society and the Irish Genealogical Research Society at the Clayton Hotel, Silversprings, Co. Cork on Saturday, 19th March 2016.
During the morning of the conference, the new third edition of Tracing your Cork Ancestors by Tony McCarthy and Tim Cadogan, published by Flyleaf Press, was launched. The Lord Mayor of Cork, Chris O’Leary of Sinn Féin, officiated at the launch shortly after the opening of the conference.
Tony McCarthy, one of the authors of the book, and one of Cork’s and Ireland’s leading genealogy lecturers and writers, provided a very informative talk for attendees on how to undertake their family history research.
Flyleaf Press, the specialist publisher of Irish genealogical books, and a division of Ancestor Network, the leading Irish genealogy research and advisory company, hosted a stand at the conference manned by Aiden Feerick. Dozens of books were sold at the event to enthusiastic researchers and readers.
